Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring!

Hello friends and Happy Spring! I don't know about you but I have had enough of winter and I am quite ready to shed bulky winter jackets, boots, chunky scarves and heavy socks! So I have been doing a little shopping for some spring clothing and I am beginning to put away some winter gear. Out with the old, and in with the new!

Since Valentine's Day I have turned my attention to creating some angel ornaments all decked out in some pretty spring colored fabrics. I had a great deal of fun creating these more dainty, feminine versions of my angels. I particularly love the lady in lavender!

I have created some coordinating tags so that they can be customized for various gift-giving events.

Then I reversed the fabrics and used the blue for the dress and the lavender on the top layer of wings. The bottom layer, which is hard to see in this photo is created from the pale blue.

.....and here is the trio! All decked out for spring!

The trio below is constructed from creative twist paper, cotton lace, some vintage lace and bias tape ribbon. It's been a while since I fashioned angels out of paper and the details added have certainly evolved over the past few years. These take a bit more time to construct than their predecessors but the extra time is time well spent.

These Paris-themed angels were a custom order and I was very pleased with the way they came together. This time I added some cotton doilies to the wings which I really liked so I added them to another pair of angels below.

I love the shade of light teal used in these angels. To add a bit more of the teal color, I used coordinating teal embroidery floss and ran some straight stitches through her vertical lace on her dress. I added the teal floss to her buttons as well.

Another tag that I created for Mother's Day....

She looked really pretty placed in a rag wreath!

......just another photo op here.....

This sweet angel is done up in pink roses....

...and last but not least.....

more roses, more pink......

Stay tuned for my new nautical-style angels--coming soon! ;)

Now I find myself leaning towards Easter....in fact I've already stitched up a bunch of little vintage inspired bunnies which I will show you in another post......

.......and today I tried out a new recipe for crock pot Easter ham which was surprisingly delicious and very moist. It was so easy. I threw a few ingredients into the crock pot, added the ham, covered and cooked for seven hours. What is on your Easter menu? Do you prepare the same dishes year after year or do you switch it up a little?

Wishing you all a great week and a lovely spring!

  1. Easter dinner...still trying to get that figured out... I know that ham will be out as I am the only one who likes it.

What beautiful creations all! Your idea of customizing them with the labels is inspired.

Have fun changing up your wardrobe for spring. When things get a bit further on, I’ll have to do the same. Here’s to warmer days ahead🌷

    1. Oh no!!!, no ham for Vee? I haven't always been a huge fan of ham but we always have it on Easter and I made the one in the crock pot the other day so this year I will have had it twice!

Thank you, I do love making these angels!

As for the wardrobe changes, I keep trying to wear a new shirt but then I run back upstairs to grab a warm sweater! I am still freezing! I am not putting my warm socks away yet. I tried and well, I dug then back out! Yes, here's to warmer days!! Take care Vee!

Yes, Easter will be here before you know it-- I can't believe how fast these months are flying. I bought some little wooden crosses to use with my Angels but just haven't had time to make them! I need longer days I think! Really looking forward to warm, spring days. It hasn't really been a hard winter but it really seems like its been loooong! I think I owe you a letter! Hugs to you my friend!

  5. Your spring angels are very pretty, Linda! You come up with so many different designs that I wonder if you know what they'll look like before you begin or do you create the first one of a series as you're doing it? I'm amazed at the many different textures you incorporate in them.

We're a ham for Easter family here too. And some kind of potatoes, lately it's potato salad because I can do that the day before. And always rolls and carrot cake. Asparagus usually.

I gave my crock pot away to my d-i-l when we moved and downsized and don't really have room for one here. But I do miss it!

    1. Thank you Dewena, so happy you stopped by! LOL, I often do have an idea in my head of what I want them to look like, trouble is I have too many ideas in my head and it keeps me awake nights!!!

We have always had ham, mashed potatoes, carrots, asparagus, fruit salad, rolls and a selction of desserts....I guess we tend to have pretty much the same menu every year....ooh carrot cake sounds good!!! I am learning to use my crock pot, it has sat unused for the longest time. I should have used it years ago. Would've come in handy on those busy school nights! Anyways, happy spring! Hope to be here more often than I have been!

    1. Hi Kitty, Thank you! Nice to hear from you! I played catch up on some blog reading the other day and ended up printing off 5 recipes including one of yours that I hope to make very soon. Yes the ham was good, I am trying to find ways to cook holiday meals without using up all of my oven space. I have a very underused crock pot so thought I would learn some new recipes for it!!! So far I have not been disappointed....Thank you, I hope you have a lovely spring too. It's still pretty chilly in my neck of the woods, hoping for a warm up!

  9. I love the pretty fabrics you have used in these gorgeous angels, Linda. Why, I do believe I know no other who fashions angels and embellishes these pretties like you. Each and every detail evokes beauty. Love the tags that you have made with each one. Each delightful tag adds that extra special little touch to each angel.
