Today I finished up some fabric pumpkins that I began working on a couple of days ago. I used old wine corks for the pumpkin stems. I have quite a collection of corks--in fact so many that my daughter bought me a special container (for my birthday) to hold them in. My other covered dish was overflowing! It is comical to me that there are actually "wine cork containers" and the actual words are printed on mine. It is shaped like a pineapple and it was love at first sight when I opened it.
Isn't it the cutest thing! I have a thing for pineapples! My daughter also included a pineapple cookie cutter in the gift box so making pineapple cut out cookies is on my long list of things to do. Anyways, back to the pumpkins......
I made the small pumpkin (upper right) first. I haven't made pumpkins in a very long time but I want to fill a basket with them in various colors. I may use the small ones at each place setting on Thanksgiving.
This little orange one is my favorite. It looks like a real pumpkin. I wasn't planning on liking the most traditional of the three but it's really cute and now I will probably make a couple more.
This one is quite a bit larger than the other two but it is hard to see the difference in size in the other photos.
They look pretty festive on my table!
A closer look.....
I have several others already cut out in less traditional colors, and of course there will be off-white and lace involved too!
Welcome fall!!! My favorite time of the year! I've been thinking a lot lately about pumpkin bread! The only reason I have not baked any yet is because it is still so hot and humid. But tomorrow is supposed to be much cooler so my first three loaves of pumpkin bread may just get baked in the morning.
