Fabric Pumpkins

Today I finished up some fabric pumpkins that I began working on a couple of days ago. I used old wine corks for the pumpkin stems. I have quite a collection of corks--in fact so many that my daughter bought me a special container (for my birthday) to hold them in. My other covered dish was overflowing! It is comical to me that there are actually "wine cork containers" and the actual words are printed on mine. It is shaped like a pineapple and it was love at first sight when I opened it.

Isn't it the cutest thing! I have a thing for pineapples! My daughter also included a pineapple cookie cutter in the gift box so making pineapple cut out cookies is on my long list of things to do. Anyways, back to the pumpkins......

I made the small pumpkin (upper right) first. I haven't made pumpkins in a very long time but I want to fill a basket with them in various colors. I may use the small ones at each place setting on Thanksgiving.

This little orange one is my favorite.  It looks like a real pumpkin. I wasn't planning on liking the most traditional of the three but it's really cute and now I will probably make a couple more.

This one is quite a bit larger than the other two but it is hard to see the difference in size in the other photos.

They look pretty festive on my table!

A closer look.....

I have several others already cut out in less traditional colors, and of course there will be off-white and lace involved too!

Welcome fall!!! My favorite time of the year! I've been thinking a lot lately about pumpkin bread! The only reason I have not baked any yet is because it is still so hot and humid. But tomorrow is supposed to be  much cooler so my first three loaves of pumpkin bread may just get baked in the morning.

  2. These are so pretty and I can see them used at each place setting for Thanksgiving--maybe even used for place cards with their names in a slot on the stem? I like pineapples too, aren't they a symbol of hospitality? Nice gift from your daughter!

    1. Good evening Dewena, you are up late too! Thank you! Yes, I am thinking the same thing, with a name tag tied on somehow....yes the pineapple is a sign of hospitality. I have many pineapple items.....and I recently saw a pineapple rubber stamp on etsy that I absolutely have to have! Thanks for dropping in Dewena! Have a wonderful weekend! We will be getting a reprieve from heat and humidity tomorrow.....looking forward to that!

  6. Ooohh those are the sweetest little pumpkins, Linda! I love the way you created a festive look with different colored materials. I bet they look adorable sitting on your table. :)
I am wanting to decorate for the cooler Fall weather, but my summer flowers are looking so lovely right now that I hate to disrupt them.
    Soon enough though.
Pumpkin bread, now you got me there. :) I absolutely love anything pumpkin, but pumpkin bread is ooohh sooo good. My oldest grandson who is just 11 has loved pumpkin bread since he was just a little baby. A boy after my own heart.

    Thinking of you, sweet friend.
Much love to you ~~ Debbie

    1. Hi Debbie,
Yes, it is hard to decorate for fall when your flowers are still in all their glory! Ours are burned and dry and the grass is brown. I am looking forward to cooler weather. Today was supposed to be much cooler, but it was still a little warm for me. I love anything pumpkin too! I made three loaves this morning and it is delicious! My kids loved it too and still do. Thinking of you too and thank you for your nice visit and comment! Have a great weekend Debbie!
      Love,

We love pumpkin bread too. Guess it is the time of year for buying cans of pumpkin! Love baking for fall and just the way the air smells ( though, we are still waiting for that. :))

    1. Hi Nikki,
i was just thinking of you today.....well my husband asked if i had your stuff altogether. He's "organizing!" We may end up bringing them. We discuss later. Yah, pumpkin bread is one of my all time favorites! I used to make it on the first day of school because my kids loved it and they could have it for a treat when they got home. Now when I make it, there are 3 loaves all for me. I usually freeze some. Yes, the house smelled so good! I'll be in touch! Thanks for stopping by!
