You say Trash! I Say Treasure!

Jackpot!

I hit the jackpot again last week! No, not powerball or megabucks! Even better! My parents were cleaning out and they were going to throw out some bins of fabric and trim. My mom called me and said to come take a peek and I could take what I wanted....there were two bins of fabric....I wanted it all!!!!

muslin, osnaburg, voiles, oh my!

3 bags of trims, miscellaneous laces, ribbons, bias tape, etc

I love this kind of trash...

little bits of this and that....

lots of lace

ribbons etc....

THEN

my dad brought out my grandmother's sewing box! The box was built for my grandmother by my grandfather. As soon as I lifted the lid, I smelled my grandmother's house--just like I remember. The smell reminded me of root beer floats! She used to make them for me when I was little. Then she would make me Ritz crackers and peanut butter. Oh, and homemade doughnuts. Plain. Delicious! On Thursdays she would make doughnuts and always give us a bag. Funny how one smell can conjure up so many memories! Anyways, back to the box:

Here it is...

Close up of the top

Forgot to turn this photo...this is the latch on the front.

The stuff inside....

Tons of thread....old thread....

there were three sections to this sewing container....bobbins galore...

25 cents!

Love this--made in Germany.

on the inside...

Now, this I have never seen before...

to prevent runs in nylons?

Monster foot!!! Anyone know what this is for????

more notions...

I got a chuckle out of this one....only 15 cents!

Had so much fun going through all of this stuff--had trouble fitting it all back in...

I love junk! Old junk especially! I have taken the box out twice to look through all the goodies in it!
Still wondering what that large foot is for...
